THE DETAILS

Upon entering the Creative Giants’ space, visitors to The Other Art Fair will be transported into a realm of immersive experiences. Expect to be wowed by super-size street art, immersive visuals and interactive digital art. You’ll also be able to place yourself inside a painting, through the wonders of augmented reality, and a giclée fine art printer will be on site executing limited edition works for the duration of the art fair.

As a reaction to the challenge that “no idea is to big”, The Rainbow Dude was conceived by Paul and Simon in a fag packet scribble with ambitions of an iconic feature that broke the ephemeral festival mould.
The research & development took the project through numerous design iterations as Ben worked closely with Paul to create something that was true to the original idea but also worked within the tight budget and strict site constraints. Naturally this created complex production problems that required careful consideration to, material, resources, finish, health and safety, but perhaps most importantly, construction details that affectively allowed for annual assembly and storage – key for a viable 5 year life cycle!

Overall this entire process took seven months to complete with drawings and models quickly turning into CAD analysis and presentation renders, before finally being signed off for fabrication and installation. On site, it was our incomparable install crew and Paul himself that worked tirelessly with the Glastonbury team to bring The Rainbow Dude to life and in the coming years will continue to develop and grow the feature into something entirely unique for the festival.

Having a close working relationship with Glastonbury team was integral to the success of the project but also an important measure of our success. Creative Giants are interested in building long term clients and collaborators to work with as we believe taking the time to invest now will create better platforms and achieve more ambitious projects in the future.
